After the pandemic, many classes in institutions never returned to the same format, with much of the material remaining virtual. I revisited my old high school to gain more insights from teachers and students.

Academic Research
Teachers waste 54% of their week on repetitive tasks
A recent survey by the EdWeek Research Center, reveals that teachers work a median of 54 hours per week. However, only 46% of this time is spent on actual teaching while the rest is consumed by administrative and repetitive tasks.
Since the pandemic, students have experienced a significant decrease in support
The absence of in-person interaction hindered their ability to provide immediate feedback which made learning and tailoring instruction to individual student needs more difficult.

How might we reduce teachers' administrative tasks and enhance student support to create a more effective educational experience?

During the wireframing phase, I gathered insights from users to determine the design focus for each page.
Teachers wanted:
- Holistic view, with a clear dashboard that shows all their frequently used tools
- Accessible communication tools
- Grading and tracking student assignments
With the feedback, I created a MVP and sent it to my manager to review.

I conducted internal usability testing with our Japan team and rolled out A/B testing to high school teachers and students to gather relevant feedback and insights.

Reflection & Takeaways
My journey has broadened my skill set well beyond the confines of design. I actively participated in every phase of development, from sprint planning and ideation to prototyping and bringing the product to life. This process honed my ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to both the business team and engineers. My role as a Designer also afforded me the unique opportunity to collaborate with our teams in Indonesia and Japan, conducting usability testing with students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. I am super thankful for the support of my team throughout this journey.
