Inspire intimate connections to create a less lonely world
According to Forbes Health, nearly 50% of couples now meet online through dating apps. As online platforms become the primary way people find love, it’s crucial for these spaces to evolve, fostering deeper, more meaningful relationships rather than just surface-level matches.
Why are all the Hinge profiles so superficial?
People on Hinge want to showcase their full range of activities and passions, but the current setup is limiting. This forces users to prioritize what stands out, often leading to trendy, repetitive responses that make it difficult to express their true, unique selves.
As more people connect online, there’s a growing need for platforms to provide more authentic ways to connect

Rumors that "Running clubs are the new dating apps"
There is an ongoing trend right now where people are turning to apps like Strava to find people to go on dates with. But why? From conversing with runners, they express that participating in meetups allowed them to connect with like-minded individuals who share their passion.
How might we leverage shared activities to enhance connections on Hinge?
JOURNEY MAPPING
Matched users often lose interest during the chatting phase, presenting a critical moment of opportunity to improve engagement. We can expand in this area by helping users deepen their connections.
CURRENT HINGE
Like all dating apps, Hinge has a simple messaging platform. This setup often makes users stuck in repetitive small talks, making it harder to move beyond the app and into real-world interactions

Shoutout to the “Friendzone Project”
I stumbled upon a Hinge profile promoting this event while I was working on this project. Within just two days, more than 100 people signed up for this in-person bonding experience!

REFLECTION
Changing the Dating Scene
Being in a new city is nerve-wrecking. People often find friends through bars, clubs, and online groups, but many have expressed that it’s extremely difficult to sustain these friendships and actually make closer connections. This is why I believe that sharing passions and hobbies with matches is crucial for staying connected.
Through this process, I focused on understanding user retention rates and strategically placing features to boost interaction without making them feel tedious. People seeking serious relationships are more willing to invest effort into personalizing their profiles, making it easier for others to learn more about them.We can leverage the digital age to help people connect faster and gain a deeper understanding of each other. My goal is to help the ball moving with conversations while allowing users to maintain control over their profiles.
I would love to expand on expanding into assisting real life interactions by having passion Hinge groups - a feature that gives users the opportunity to mingle in real life through organized events or casual meetups tailored to their interests.
